The Hands of Christ, helping families be self-sufficient
Our History
Interfaith Housing Coalition was founded in 1985 to provide transitional housing and support services to homeless families. Through the years, a broad coalition of individuals, foundations, churches, and service groups have joined the ministry, effectively leveraging volunteer, in-kind and financial resources throughout the community.
The Landscape Has Changed
Initially designed to help families with situational homelessness stabilize and move forward within 90 days, the Interfaith Housing program has evolved to provide an in-depth approach to address the root issues of generational poverty and homelessness with families now staying up to 18 months depending on their specific needs.
The overwhelming majority of families enter our program facing multiple issues including domestic violence, lack of education, lack of job history and work skills. Interfaith provides home, hope, encouragement and support to bring about enduring change. Our programs promote family stability, teach skills to break the poverty cycle, and build a strong sense of community in the process.
